Rooie Dop Double Oatmeal Stout
I'm having something of an epiphany with all the great craft-brewed stouts that are becoming available. This Rooie Dop Double Oatmeal Stout is an excellent ale. Pretty strong at 9.6%, it goes down maybe a little too easily and could get you into trouble, it's that smooth. A very complex malt flavour using four different types leads to a fine hop balance with Columbus and Saaz varieties. Flaked oats provide the silky mouth feel whilst roasted barley produces an extremely pleasing but not overbearing toasty, smoky flavour. Another Dutch import from Brouwerij De Molen, this stout is Recommended.
