Smaug Stout

Big thanks to our fearless video presenter, my buddy and fellow beer enthusiast Pearce for acquiring this very interesting 8.5% brew. Does it give you dragon breath? I'm not sure, but I'll say that it's got the most amazing chilli pepper nose on it. Seriously, hops and chilli together in an olfactory marriage of vaporous goodness? What's not to like about that? This said... once you get past the amazing smell (doubtless nothing like actual dragon, which from what I understand smells of gold and partially-digested dwarf) all you get is coffee. Coffee! Seriously, I checked the label at least twice to establish that it didn't actually contain any coffee because I've been caught out like that before. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that this is the most coffee flavoured beer I've ever tasted, being much more java-esque than many beers which actually contain the renowned bean. Now, I like coffee, but I don't like coffee beer, I must be honest. So look, if you *do*, then give this a try. One more thing, though, once you get past the insanely good smell, where's the damn chilli gone? You just can't tell it's there. Everything beyond the nose is a long, drawn-out river of pure coffee. I think you get the idea. Not recommended but definitely worth a try.
